Dear Sneks,
As many have begun their hibernation for the winter and crypto blizzard, the Basilisk team is chugging along in making progress on upcoming features. To say 2022 has been a trying time for us all is an understatement, but the grind to becoming the liquidity hub of Kusama continues! Today, we will take a look at a few things Snek has been up to, in addition to working on upcoming features.
First off, Snek and sister HydraDX were well-represented at the Polkadot developer conference, sub0. We had the chance to lead several presentations and workshops discussing various topics. We were also able to gain inspiration from other teams in attendance on how to better integrate and deliver a fluid and smooth user experience cross-chain with other parachains.
Furthermore, Basilisk recently launched its bounty program with Immunefi. This is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure security is a top priority for Snek. The bounty program is open to all and contains a maximum bounty worth up to $222,222 for critical bugs which can result in loss of funds.
Finally, we’ll take a look at the winners of our previously announced NFT contest and share some of the snekkkkiest jpegs.
Snek at Polkadot sub0
For those not familiar, sub0 is the flagship Polkadot conference which is meant for developers who are building at any level of the Polkadot tech stack: From custom L1 blockchains to dapps and smart contracts, infrastructure, tooling, cross-chain interoperability solutions, and more.
To make sure we kicked off with the right vibes, Basilisk + Kodadot hosted a warm up party on the day just before sub0. Besides two panels on the future of NFTs and Kusama OpenGov, the party gave an opportunity to 350+ buidlers to catch up and network with a glass of their favorite drink (or two).
Sub0 took place for 2 days in warm (but rainy) Lisbon. This year, the 2-day event saw over 50+ speakers and 40+ developer sessions with over 30 Polkadot and Kusama projects in attendance. HydraDX and Basilisk led 3 different sessions during which we shared our learnings on the following three topics:
UI/UX lessons learned;
AMM design implementation;
DevOps in Web3.
The talks haven’t been released online yet but we’ll be sure to share the links once they’re out there.
Immunefi Bounty Program
Keeping our users safu has always been a top priority for Basilisk. As such, in addition to going through a standard audit process, Snek has partnered with Immunefi to deliver a bug bounty program to help identify any potential security vulnerabilities with the suite of products offered on Basilisk.
Immunefi is the leading web3 bug bounty platform which currently protects $60B+ in user funds across the crypto space. In essence, white-hat hackers can report vulnerabilities (as opposed to exploiting them) and receive juicy rewards.
Rewards are distributed according to the severity of the vulnerability based on the Immunefi Vulnerability Severity Classification System V2.2. This is a simplified 5-level scale, with separate scales for websites/apps, smart contracts, and blockchains/DLTs, focusing on the impact of the vulnerability reported.
The Basilisk bug bounty program rewards the responsible disclosure of critical blockchain vulnerabilities with 10% of the potential economic damage (capped at $222,222). For more details please consult our bug bounty program here.
Snek NFT Contest Winners
In October, the Basilisk Council inaugurated the launch of the Basilisk NFT Marketplace with a competition offering a combined prize pool of $22,222 (in BSX) to the 10 best collections with 20 NFTs or more. After much deliberation by our Counciloooors, we’re happy to announce the ten winners (in no particular order):
Congratulations to all winners of the Snek NFT Competition! The tip requests (BSX equivalent of $2,222) will be put on-chain by the end of this week.
This is all for now,
Snek back to work. 🐍
